July 2024 - The last round (hopefully!)
We start the last "active" round in July and hopefully go into our 2 years of maintaince after!
07/01/2024
Started our week off with a clinic visit to make sure our counts still meet to start the next part to this round.
WBC: 2.0
Hemoglobin: 10.0
Platelets: 66
ANC: 720
Counts meet so we’re staying while we get her chemo and monthly antibiotic. And we start her oral chemo today too.
We are going to try staying accessed this week again and see how we do to try and prevent any kind of infection this round from getting accessed every day for treatment. Fingers crossed we do good with it this time and don’t rip a piece off!
Someone is super sleepy while she’s getting meds, so she’s snuggled up in her stroller with her amazing new Frozen toy she was gifted that has cool little magnet hands!! She doesn’t want to put it down
More to come when we have it!
Well, just kidding…. what we thought was an easy clinic visit took a small turn.
Octavia had her zofran and monthly antibiotic done. Hooked up her chemo and went to change her diaper before we left so it was done. Went to stand her up, she jumped up at the same time, and we didn’t realize that her tube just ever so perfectly got stuck in the table crack which cause her needle to get ripped out and scratch her on the way out.
Nurse came in and stopped the chemo immediately, took all the tape and needle off, stopped the bleeding, and cleaned the area. Thankfully it pulled out all the way and the chemo and fluids filled her tape instead of her skin. Then had to re-access her to finish her dose.
We decided to keep her de-accessed after chemo finished instead of remaining accessed for the week like the initial plan. Instead for the rest of the week we’re going to be trying to do her cytarabine doses as thigh injections to give her port time to heal without risking infection.
*sigh* just when we think things are going smoothly, we get hit with another hiccup. But she’s doing good now, just absolutely exhausted.
More to come tomorrow after her first thigh injection attempt!

Today went well!!
We got to clinic and had to wait a little longer for them to get the chemo made as an injection and get the computer to reflect as injection instead of IV, but once that was done she did amazingly well with getting it!!
Got home, napped for a little bit, then got to play and snuggle with SisSis for a little bit
Hoping the next few thigh doses go just as well as today’s did!!

Day 2 of thigh injections went well also! Big bro got to come with us today to see what clinic is all about, meet all the nurses and drs, and play with Octavia which was nice
She was definitely not a fan of her leg being grabbed for the injection, but she did fantastic overall. Were considering doing this all next week as well to prevent the need for any port access to lower her risk of infection even more.
The two big negatives that we’re dealing with are…
1 - shocker… the relentless diaper rash no matter what we do or use on it. Luckily it’s not causing her much pain or discomfort, but come onnnnn already
2 - we’re only 3 days into this round and back on chemo and she is already just absolutely exhausted. Her poor little body just never has had enough recovery time and each round just kicked her down a little more each time.
But despite all that, she’s still being a true champ and fighting with everything she has. We’re so beyond proud of our little fighter!!
More to come when we have it!

Happy 4th of July everyone!!
We had zero plans today but relaxing at home which was glorious. And then we brought Octavia’s couch to the backyard and set off a few small fireworks for her to see, which she loved!!
Back to clinic tomorrow morning, and more to come!

Today has been an off day for sure.
Miss Octavia was up for most of the night so she was very miserable about waking up to get to the clinic. She slept the whole ride there, and surprisingly continued sleeping when we walked in, went to the lab, and got a finger poke for blood work. She really only perked up when we got to the clinic floor to go play.
Numbers are remaining decent:
WBC: 1.1
Hemoglobin: 9.4
Platelets: 62
ANC: 600
She had a great time in clinic running around the halls yelling for one of the drs which was hilarious, and got to hang out with our friends
She slept the whole ride home and seemed to still be exhausted when we got there, but didn’t want to go to sleep. Instead just relaxed a little and got up to play for a few minutes before throwing up all over herself and the floor
But, we gave her some zofran for the nausea and she’s laying down napping again now so hopefully once she’s up she’ll start feeling herself again.
More to come when we have it!

When daddy’s making pizza dough, what better way to pass the time than playing with a bowl full of flour?!?!
